must be something with toyota at the moment, just a recall notice the other day for my 1991 surf (4runner) apparently the steering relay rod breaks without warning leaving you with no steering can't wait for that to happen...

why not forget about the headlights and use army surplus night vision goggles, must be plenty on the market due to the amount of wars the u.s. currently participate in.

Quote from Riders Motion :If you have access to a welder, do it the easy way. Put a bolt on top of the screw, weld it there and then unscrew the bolts.

I second this method, I use it every time I need to remove broken screws/studs, but I usually use a nut and weld the internal thread face, this has never let me down. Take it to an exhaust shop, local fabrication shop, or a mate with a welder, cheaper than replacing the whole seat.

diesels would be cool, but then you would need a toyota prius to compete in the same class, eco racing highest mpg wins.

Seems more like a chassis manufacturer, like the atom aerial its powered by japanese powerplants. Still good to see the Hartley v8 being put to great use.

Try making a slurry, take one containment vessel - dependent on volume of drinks to be consumed, one to three people a bucket can suffice, 44 gallon drums cut in half also work well, place copious amount of ice into container add just enough water to fill the gaps between ice cubes. Place tasty beverages of choice into slurry, rapid cooling will ensue. Remove drinks as required increasing the risk of frost bite as numbness in fingers slows location of higher quality drinks which always seem to hide right at the bottom. To aide in the mobility and delivery of drinks, a trusty wheelbarrow is always handy.
For an even colder slurry use saltwater ice or just add table salt to the slurry.

My personal preference on brand would be Mercury, but genuine parts and dealer service charges are usually higher than OMC (Johnson and Evinrude). The reliablity of Johnson outboards is better than some cheaper name *cough* Tohatsu *cough* brands and parts are readily available. I have a 1972 4hp 2 stroke Johnson (found seized at the local landfill) put in 2 main crank bearings, added fuel, 3 pulls and it runs like a clock.

My advice would be to get the 9.9hp Johnson, just make sure you get the correct pitch propeller for the approx maximum combined mass of the boat, motor, passengers and gear (if any, not much room on a 2.7m blow up doll)

Quote from gezmoor :Yeah well, it's all well and good to have a loud rip snorting car when it's just you behind the wheel. The reality is everyone else around you has to put up with the aggravation. If you really think about it, it's actually rather selfish to have a loud vehicle for road use.

Also, just imagine all the extra land that would become available to house builders if they weren't restricted by noise pollution from roads and motorways which currently means they can't build in places where no one would want to live.

If it came down to the choice, I'd rather have more, (and therefore cheaper), housing than allowing noisy vehicles on the road. It's only because we're conditioned by engine noise that we expect it in our cars, (especially performance ones). Ultimately, people will adjust to quieter vehicles. Later generations will wonder how we ever put up with the noise.

Also, it's all well and good trawing the net for youtube clips of "sweet" sounding engines. The reality is 99% of us would loath to drive any of those cars in practice. I think most people dont have any real idea of just how loud they are. Having been in the presence of race prepped 125cc 2-strokes I can tell you in all honesty I wouldn't want to ride/drive any vehicle with a race prepped engine for more than 10 minutes. What's the point of having an engine so loud you are forced to wear ear plugs to save yourself from permanent hearing damage anyway?

maybe its just me but I don't live in a city or even a town for that matter, possibly in the UK noise is an issue when 1 million other ppl live within 1 sq km of each other nice sounding cars are a problem but here I can drive for 30 min (at speed limit) without seeing another car, or a house sometimes (depending on direction and speed), a good car with a nice tone effects only one person... the driver cars don't have to be loud, just don't put a fart can on a 1.3l escort.........

Quote from Luko :this is my car, lol

I had a S110L as my first car, biggest problem was the lack of steering with less than 1/2 tank of gas whilst driving up hill. Only cost me a dozen beers so couldn't expect much

I think a "developers league" would be a good idea, through a voting system of track layout and design ideas, voted on by S2 licensed users the highest voted and most practical track "plans" could be submitted to the devs for approval then work could begin turning these new tracks into reality. Most of the ground work could be compiled by the LFS community with final touches and tweaks done by the devs. Result - tracks people want, i.e. I would like a Bathurst type track with long straights, big altitude changes and tight corners with concrete barriers... no room for error. No licensing problems, even if only one track per year was implemented, most racers would be keen. (maybe I've had too many bourbons, must be time to go and race )

Cockpit design varies on each users needs, how much room you have, materials to be used and how much it will be used. Mine is a hybrid of a 1200mm wide students desk with a 155mm MDF pedal platform, an aluminium monitor stand to raise the 19" widescreen 65mm and a Honda Prelude car seat mounted approx 440mm from the floor on castors with a laminated steel MDF armrest/mouse surface on the right hand side of the seat. The wheel is a MOMO which I slide to the side when I have other things to do. All of this was built with no real idea of what the final product was going to be but works well, approximate dimemsions were taken from my car i.e. distance from wheel to seat, seat height in relation to pedals and wheel etc.

Personally I don't see what the big deal is about wanting the Scirocco right now, I got curious and went to the local VW dealership and took one for a test drive. Nothing special in my opinion, the '72 Mini Clubman I had way back when was more fun, felt more like a race car (if you can call any fwd passenger vehicle a race car).
